The secret is finally out, and the internet sleuthing can take a break, at least for now. Slipknot have officially taken to social media to make a brief announcement, confirming weeks of speculation: former Sepultura drummer Eloy Casagrande is the new drummer. Casagrande abruptly left Sepultura before their farewell tour, citing his departure as a move to “another project.”

Casagrande made his first live appearance with the band on Thursday, April 25th, during an intimate performance at Pappy + Harriet’s in Pioneertown, CA. The concert, near the Joshua Tree National Park in San Bernardino County, was a warm-up for their later appearance at the Sick New World Festival in Las Vegas. Notably, the band’s new look at the show brings back some nostalgia with their classic 1999 attire, complete with jumpsuits and masks.

Despite lineup changes, the group is undoubtedly celebrating the 25th anniversary of their self-titled debut album this year, including their most recent North American tour announcement. Regarding Casagrande, the group initially subtly revealed his addition through an Instagram tag in a recent group photo, followed shortly by the official announcement.
