…Well, I guess that didn’t take too terribly long. At the end of 2013, Swedish post-metal band Cult of Luna announced – or rather hinted, to be more accurate – that they would be going on some sort of hiatus. Yesterday, just over a year since that cryptic announcement, the band posted the following status on their Facebook page:
We know there’s going to be questions for more shows in north america but unfortunately we’ll only do three shows this time.
May 13th – Montreal at Café Campus – Montréal
May 14th – New York The Gramercy Theatre
May 15th – Santa Ana at Psycho California
That is it and it’s final.
While it may not be a full-on tour that fans may have been hoping for, it’s both refreshing and comforting to see not only that the band is still playing gigs, but that they’re keeping the promise they made in that last, ominous update before they went on their recent hiatus. Mainly, while they’re not able to tour as extensively as they used to in their younger years, they’re also not completely calling it quits.
