Washington D.C.-area band Wings Denied have been playing their brand of melodic, progressive metal for the better part of this decade, and their forthcoming five-song EP, Voyager, represents the journey they’ve taken as a band. Lead single “Matches in the Wind” is already pit-worthy. Heavy, melodic and driving, it’s catchy even before it gets to its explosive chorus. Here’s what the band says about the song:

“From the moment we had the outline of this song ready, we knew we had a real banger on our hands. This song has it all- toxic relationship between two people and all the insanity that comes along with it, spiced up with a huge chorus and a killer riff.
