Philip H. Anselmo released a new track on Friday (8th) inspired by Slayer frontman Tom Araya. ‘Tom Araya Theme Song’ was, like its name suggests, written as theme song to accompany Araya’s part in the upcoming film Hair Metal Shotgun Zombie Massacre. The song premiered in a new teaser trailer for the film.

Says Director Joshua Allen Vargas of Anselmo’s contribution,

“It was so cool for Philip to write and record Tom‘s theme song for us. Philip and Kate Richardson (VP at Housecore Records and Anselmo’s fiancée) are EASILY two of the coolest, most beautiful people to walk the planet.”

Aside from Araya’s cameo in the film, Hair Metal Shotgun Zombie Massacre features appearances from metal staples Randy Blythe (Lamb of God) and David Vincent (ex-Morbid Angel). The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus is also involved, playing the role of narrator.

Hair Metal Shotgun Zombie Massacre tells the story of a band who attempt to record their debut album in a cabin near an old cemetery and end up conjuring up demons who posse the cemetery’s residents. It’s then up to the band to save the day.

“Tom Araya Theme Song” will be featured on the Hair Metal Shotgun Zombie Massacre soundtrack along with contributions from Helstar (who wrote the music for the film’s fictional band Witches Lips) and members of Oceans of Slumber, Disartica and more. According to Vargas,

“This is a film made FOR fans of horror and metal BY fans of horror and metal and it was important that the film and soundtrack reflected that. From having Philip do Tom‘s theme song to having ’80s metal legends HELSTAR do the music for the band in the movie.”

An official release date for both the film and soundtrack have not been announced yet.
