Song: “Ruler of Tamag”

Album: Leviathan III (out December 15, 2023 via Napalm Records)

Symphonic metal outfit Therion have shared a video for second single, “Ruler of Tamag,” taken from Leviathan III, the final third chapter of the Leviathan series.

Christofer Johnsson comments:

“The song was written by me and Thomas Vikström and it has a lot of Middle Eastern influences in the music. Lyrically it deals with the ruler of the Underworld in the Turkic mythology called Erlik. Parts of the song is in Turkish language. I collaborated with Soner Canözer from the now defunct Turkish symphonic metal band Almora for the translation/rewriting of the Turkish parts of the lyrics. The video is a lyric video and it was done by Carlos Toro from Abysmo Films that did our video clips the past 13 years.”

Melodic death metal outfit releases a new song featuring EL TIPLE, a traditional Colombian folk instrument, exploring the history of ancient mountain tribes.

The band discusses:

“The song transports us to an ancient world where medicine relied on plants, customs were rituals, and shamanic magic expanded consciousness and spirituality. However, the course of history would forever alter the fate of these mountain tribes. The arrival of determined intruders, armed and set on Christianizing free men in their path, opened a dark chapter in their existence. In their quest for wealth and power, these outsiders annihilated entire tribes. This song is an ode to the memory of those forgotten by history, to the millennia-old customs no longer passed down, a tribute to tribes and fathers who were gods, dead gods, gone.”
