Monte Pittman has been Madonna’s guitarist for 15 years now. He’s also played with Prong and has put out a number of solo albums, the last two on Metal Blade. And while he’s definitely made Madonna more metal by his inclusion in the band, it’s not like he gets to truly showcase what a shredder he is when playing with her. Recently, he sat down with Guitar World to play over one of his favorite songs of hers, “La Isla Bonita.” And while the original is vaguely Latino, not so with Pittman shredding over it. It’s not like Madonna’s going to do a metal remake of one of her most popular songs, but it’s cool that her guitarist gets to.
