It’s pretty amazing that GWAR have been able to infiltrate mainstream media like they have. From winning AV Club Undercover’s contest three years in a row to making it on to Jimmy Fallon’s Late Night show and Dan Patrick’s show, enough non-metal people know who the band are now. Perhaps that’s why they’ve been embraced by the Howard Stern Show. The SiriusXM Howard Stern Wrap Up Report show had them by the studio last year to play a version of Stern’s childhood song “Silver Nickels and Golden Dimes” last year. And while they haven’t made it on the air with Stern yet, his website debuted the band’s latest video for “I’ll Be Your Monster.” The David Brodsky-directed video finds the band haunting the dreams of a sleeping child, and it has the aesthetic of a Nightmare on Elm Street flick in the beginning, but gets over the top hysterical later on in the video as the band continue to wreak havoc.
The Blood of Gods will be out tomorrow (20) on Metal Blade Records, and can be preordered here.
