We’ve already known that Zac Brown Band, although a country act, likes rock. They’ve appeared on Late Night with David Letterman with the Foo Fighters, performing “War Pigs.” Grohl also played drums on and produced 2013’s The Grohl Sessions Vol. 1. With their fourth album, Jekyll + Hyde, coming out next month, the band got enlisted another grunge icon, Chris Cornell. The Soundgarden frontman appears on a track,”Heavy is the Head,” that he joined the band for on this past weekend’s Saturday Night Live.
The Atlanta seven-piece have written what’s essentially a grunge song. With the exception of some fiddle, there’s really not too much differentiating this from a Soundgarden song, especially with Cornell’s vocals. And while it’s not particularly heavy for metal, it crushes as far as new country goes.
Jekyll + Hyde will be released on April 28.
