Jani Lane Died Of Alcohol Poisoning

Posted by on October 5, 2011

Two months after his death, the L.A. Coroner’s office have closed their investigation and determined that Jani Lane suffered from an acute ethanol poisoning. As sad of a conclusion as this is, it’s also not surprising. When the former Warrant singer’s body was found in an LA hotel room, a half empty bottle of vodka and prescription medication was also found at the scene. Also found on Lane was a note saying “I am Jani Lane” and a phone number from a friend, though police expected no foul play.

Nonetheless, Lane’s death is still very unfortunate and it’s become more apparent that he had a lot of demons he was still battling. It’s also now even more awkward that his former band mates released their own line of wine so soon following Lane’s death. Bad timing, eh?

And with that, we pay our last respects to Lane by playing Warrant’s “I Saw Red,” the video of which can be seen below.
