Back in 2008, onetime Static-X guitarist Tripp Eisen, who’d also logged time in Dope, Murderdolls and Roughhouse, went to jail for a year. The reason he was in jail was a pretty gross one – it was a parole violation from his original crime, in which he’d been caught having sex with a 14 year-old girl in a parking lot in 2005. That was the second offense for him, as he’d been arrested in February of 2005, again, for having sex with an underage girl. Static-X, for their part, immediately kicked him out of the band.
While Eisen has been out of jail since the end of 2009, we haven’t heard much from him, and with good reason. Most people don’t want known pedophiles in their band. However, via an interview with Totally Driven Radio, he’s been given a forum to discuss his past incidents. Here’s what he told the host:
“Horrible judgment. What happened to me was really bad judgment, terrible mistakes that I made, and I paid a price for ’em.”
Horrible judgment is one thing, and if this happened once, it would still be pretty unforgivable. The fact that he did it more than once is even worse. A guy in his 40s having sex with a 14 year-old is absolutely disgusting, and while he appears to have kept himself out of trouble for the last eight years and says he’s learned and grown from it, it’s going to be hard for anyone to look at him the same again. Roughhouse, his hair metal band that he first rose to fame with, has played some reunion shows, so if you’re planning on seeing them at Harrah’s Casino on march 11th, you might want to keep your daughter away from that show. Here’s the whole podcast.
