Every band boasts a distinct group of enthusiasts, from diehard Metallica fans voyaging across the globe to catch their favorite band live as frequently as possible to those who revel in cosplay by immersing themselves in the persona of their chosen artist. However, envision the hours spent meticulously applying face paint or donning a mask to embody a musician’s essence, only for it to become a source of contention at a concert venue. This scenario unfolded during the Ghost concert with Amon Amarth on Friday (11th) at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater in Maryland Heights, MO. Attendees reveled in the dramatic theatrics brought forth by the Swedish rockers, much like they enjoyed donning their unique face paint or masks in sync with the occasion’s spirit. Unfortunately, the venue’s regulations led to concertgoers being compelled to remove their masks, while those adorned with face paint faced certain limitations. This unexpected turn of events sparked a wave of discontent at the venue, prompting both the venue management and Ghost to release the subsequent statements:
The Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre:
“Thanks to everyone who joined us for an amazing Ghost show last night. On behalf of our crew, we’d like to apologize for a miscommunication about removing face paint. This was not directed by Ghost. If you experienced issues at last night’s show, please reach out to us at hollywoodampstl@livenation.com so we can improve for future shows.”
Ghost:
“We wish to inform you that we will ALWAYS encourage creative expression, we will NEVER stifle it.”
