The last time Tool played New York City, 10,000 Days was a new album. However, according to Consequence of Sound, the quartet will headline next year’s Governors Ball, taking place from June 2-4 on Randall’s Island. The festival, which is entering it’s seventh year, hasn’t announced any of the lineup officially yet, and declined to comment on Tool’s inclusion, stating only “The full Governors Ball lineup will be announced early next year, at which point tickets will also go on sale.”

While Tool hasn’t played NYC proper since May of 2006, they did play Jersey City, NJ’s All Points West Festival in 2009, and have also played other shows in Wantagh, NY, East Rutherford, NJ and Holmdel NJ on that tour and since. This will be the first time they’ve played the Northeast since 2012. And while we’ve been saying this for years, it’s still possible that they’ll have a new album out by the time Governers Ball rolls around. We’ll update you when we hear more about the festival and the band’s tour.
