stevenseagullsAre two instances of something happening enough to label it a trend? If so,  2014 was the year Bluegrass metal broke. Rob Scallon picked up a banjo and covered Slayer, while over in Finland, which is about as far away from Appalachia as possible, the ridiculously-named Steve ‘N’ Seagulls started to make their name for covering the likes of Dio and Iron Maiden, but in a down-home moonshine-drinkin’ fashion. Late in 2014, they signed to Spinefarm, and they’re finally going on tour here in the states. We’d already known they’ll be headlining Metal Injection’s showcase at SXSW, but now they’ve lined up some additional tour dates. Here’s their itinerary:

03/18 Austin, TX @ Dirty Dog
03/19 Dallas, TX @ Mudbug Mash
03/21 Nashville, TN @ Mercury Lounge
03/22 Newport, KY @ The Southgate House Revival
03/23 Chicago, IL @ Beat Kitchen
03/24 Pittsburgh, PA @ The Smiling Moose
03/25 Washington, DC @ DC9
03/26 New York, NY @ Mercury Lounge

In addition, they’ve released a video for their cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Black Dog.” Check it out below:
