David Roach, longtime vocalist of hard rock band Junkyard, has passed away after a battle with an aggressive form of cancer known as squamous cell carcinoma. He died peacefully at home on Saturday (2nd), in the arms of his wife, Jennifer Michael-Roach, whom he married just weeks earlier on July 19, 2025. He was 62. Roach had been part of Junkyard since 1987 and was known for his raw vocals and passionate performances. His bandmates shared the news via social media, stating:
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Roach.
After a courageous battle with cancer, David passed away peacefully last night at home, in the loving arms of his wife.
He was a gifted artist, performer, songwriter, and singer—but above all, a devoted father, husband, and brother.
Our thoughts are with the entire Roach family and everyone who loved him.
—Junkyard”
Roach’s cancer diagnosis became public in February, following an illness with fever and a persistent cough. A GoFundMe campaign launched by Jennifer and close friends raised $35,000, which is still open for donations here. Our thoughts go out to Roach’s family and friends during this difficult time.
