We’ve already been excited for Gojira’s long awaited new EP, the proceeds of which will be given to the anti-whaling organization Sea Shepherd. Then we lost our minds when we found out that Devin Townsend, Lamb Of God’s Randy Blythe, In Flames’ Anders Fridén, Soulfly/Cavalera Conspiracy’s Max Cavalera, and Meshuggah guitarist Fredrik Thordendal were going to be making appearances on the EP. Yet despite finding out these juicy updates, and even hearing a new song from the EP called “Of Blood And Salt,” we still don’t know when the EP will actually be released.

In a new interview with Australia’s Loud Magazine, drummer Mario Duplantier revealed that they are simply waiting for one more guest to record his/her parts. As to why the Sea Shepherd EP still hasn’t been released, Duplantier explained the following:

“We’re waiting on a few guests. The music is ready, but we’re waiting on (a) vocalist. We want to release it as soon as possible, maybe August or September. When you ask to put singers on the record, it makes it difficult. If it’s just Joe on voice, that makes it easier, but it’s not easy.”

In addition to this, Duplantier’s interview also revealed that Katatonia’s Jonas Renkse has been added to the already impressive guest list. We already knew that the band was also working on a full length album and live DVD. While Gojira will be releasing the four track EP on their own, it’s unclear as to who will distribute the new album since (as Metal Sucks points out), their contract with Prosthetic Records just ended.
