Photos: Volbeat, Killswitch Engage kick off tour at Coney Island Amphitheater

Posted by on August 10, 2016

It’s not always that often that new venues open, particularly in New York City. In fact, between Roseland (on a big scale) and The Acheron, Trash Bar and Grand Victory (on a smaller scale), we seem to be losing venues quicker than gaining them. However, the Coney Island Amphitheater opened in late June, and appears to be off to a pretty solid start. Volbeat and Killswitch Engage chose the new venue to kick off their monthlong tour, and it was a resounding success. A hometown show of sorts for Volbeat guitarist Rob Caggiano and Killswitch Engage singer Jesse Leach, who lives here now, it even had a special guest appearance, as Misfits’ Jerry Only joined Volbeat, a band that was certainly influenced by him, for a cover of his band’s “Angelfuck.” Metal Insider contributing photographer Melinda Oswandel was on hand to shoot the proceedings.  You can see the remaining tour dates below.
