In support of their excellent new album, Luminiferous, High on Fire have been on tour for the last few weeks with Pallbearer, Lucifer and Venommous Maximus. While they’re playing Brooklyn, New York’s Music Hall of Williamsburg tonight, on Saturday (15), they came to NYC’s Irving Plaza. While diverse, the bill was a well-rounded night of metal. Venomous Maximus are fun thrash from Texas. We loved them last year when we saw them at the B4BQ, and they were a perfect opener to get the crowd loose. Lucifer, playing their first-ever show in New York, were a nice bonus for fans of The Oath that might not have ever gotten to see them. Pallbearer, still touring behind last year’s epic The Foundations of Burden, proved to be the perfect downer to High on Fire’s upper, playing just four songs in their allotted time. High on Fire’s new stuff sounds just as good as their classic material. Metal Insider contributor Di Lynn Ring was on hand to capture the evening.
