Marilyn Manson has issued a public statement on his Instagram in response to a lawsuit he recently filed against actress Evan Rachel Wood. This marks the first public response in over a year from the shock rocker, which addresses Wood’s recent HBO documentary, Phoenix Rising. The two part series follows Wood announcing Brian Warner (Manson) as her abuser. Manson has fired back in this new lawsuit, alleging she manufactured a conspiracy to portray him as a serial abuser to further her career.

Read Manson’s statement:

“There will come a time when I can share more about the events of the past year. Until then, I’m going to let the facts speak for themselves.”

The statement led readers to a link under his Instagram bio, which directs you to a currently public Google Drive sharing a PDF of the lawsuit he filed against actress Evan Rachel Wood and Ashley Gore, aka Illma Gore over allegations of rape and sexual abuse. This is the first response we’ve heard from Manson since Wood first came forward publicly naming Manson as her abuser in February 2021. Since then, Manson has been dropped by his label, and has received a number of allegations against him by several other women.

Wood has yet to respond to both the lawsuit and his statement as the actress has most recently revealed her new role portraying Madonna in the upcoming Weird Al Biopic. Phoenix Rising will be available later this month via HBO Max.
