People reports that the members of Jane’s Addiction and frontman Perry Farrell formally dismissed their dueling lawsuits right before the Holiday’s on December 22, bringing an end to the legal fallout from the band’s turbulent 2024 reunion.
The legal resolution came days after both sides issued public statements addressing the controversy. Farrell apologized for his onstage behavior during the band’s Boston performance and expressing regret to fans and his bandmates. Guitarist Dave Navarro, bassist Eric Avery, and drummer Stephen Perkins issued a collective statement of their own, admitting they ended the tour unilaterally after the Boston incident and expressing regret over comments made about Farrell’s mental health.
Those statements followed months of public dispute stemming from the band’s brief reunion. In 2024, the classic lineup returned to the stage together for the first time since 2010 and released their first new music as a unit in nearly 35 years. The reunion quickly unraveled after the confrontation in Boston, where Farrell initiated a physical altercation with Navarro that continued backstage and effectively ended the tour.
In the aftermath, Navarro, Avery, and Perkins filed a lawsuit against Farrell, alleging assault, battery, emotional distress, breach of contract, and claiming the collapse of the band cost them more than $10 million. Farrell responded with a countersuit, accusing the trio of harassment, bullying, contract violations, and intentionally altering his in-ear monitor levels during performances. With both lawsuits now dismissed, the legal chapter appears closed. While another Jane’s Addiction reunion has effectively been ruled out, Navarro, Avery, and Perkins have since been spotted working together in the studio, suggesting their collaboration may continue outside of Jane’s Addiction.
