Devildriver seem to have their work cut out for them between their country covers album Outlaws Til the End out July 6th and now plans to hit the studio that same month to begin wrting a double album due in 2019 and 2020. In an interview with Metal Wani, Devildriver’s frontman  Dez Fafara says as of right now, about 48 songs are written and they”’ whittle that down to about 20 or 22 songs for the album(s). It seems since 2003 when Devildriver took off they have released an album at least every couple of years and toured more or less nonstop. Another Coal Chamber run for Dez doesn’t seem too likely at this time, but it’s pretty safe to say Devildriver isn’t going anywhere. Here’s what he told Metal Wani:

“We’re writing the record of our lives right now — that I can tell you. And making no bones about it, this will be the record of our career. This will be the record that other artists judge us, as well as themselves, on once they hear this.”

“[The fans are] gonna get a record a year [in reference to Outlaws ‘Til The End], which means you’re gonna a record this year. You’re gonna get a record in 2019, and you’re gonna get a record in 2020. And that’s the way art should be.”

That’s a whole lotta Devildriver, but at least the band’s got a three year plan.
