15) Converge

Looks like a new Converge album is on its way sooner than we expected. The yet-to-be-titled album will be a follow-up from their 2012 release, All We Love We Leave Behind. The news showed up on an update from drummer Ben Koller on New Year’s’ Eve, hoping for a late Spring release.

14)Wintersun

Finnish epic metallers Wintersun gave everyone a New Year’s treat, announcing the work is done for their third studio album that will be released later this year via Nuclear Blast.

13) Enslaved

Enslaved spent most of 2016 celebrating their 25th Anniversary as a band, which ended in the departure of keyboardist/clean vocalist Herbrand Larsen. As the new year approached, it seems that Enslaved are ready to move forward with 2017 recording a new album that will be “coming very soon.”

12)
Sólstafir

The Icelandic metallers re-signed with Season of Mist, and hit the studio to record their seventh album. When the announcement was made in November 2016, vocalist/guitarist Aðalbjörn Tryggvason mentioned that they recorded fourteen tracks including a cover song. At that time they didn’t know what would end up on the album, however, it was recently mastered in NYC.

11) Dying Fetus

Despite touring, including, headlining 2016’s Metal Alliance Tour, Dying Fetus hasn’t released an album since 2012’s Reign Supreme. During June 2016, Dying Fetus posted a video discussing the upcoming new album stating it would have eleven new tracks. The date hasn’t fully been released, but we do know they promise to have “a lot in store” for us.
