With the announcement of the upcoming Mercyful Fate reunion shows in 2020 and the forthcoming King Diamond release, The Institute, we thought now would be a good time to count down our Top 5 favorite promotional videos featuring King Diamond in either his own band or with Mercyful Fate.

01) “The Family Ghost”

Ah, the 1980’s.  Yes, MTV played videos but they rarely ever played metal videos for many years in the 80’s. And even then they rarely played anything remotely underground. Here’s King in peak makeup and costume and Mickey Dee dressed like his best Steve Harris!

02)  “Welcome Home”

King as an apparition? Grandma in her rocking chair? For it’s day, this video was pretty darn spooky.  The song is amazing.
