Love reading literature written by your favorite rock stars? Well it sure beats being forced to read The Old Man and the Sea for English class right? This past weekend, details emerged about three books composed by three of the heavy metal community’s wildest rock stars.
The first one comes from Slipknot/Stone Sour singer Corey Taylor. His new book Seven Deadly Sins reportedly is his story told through the prism of the seven deadly sins, and discusses whether sinning is truly a bad thing. “My interpretation of the seven deadly sins is basically they’re not sins at all. They are human characteristics that we all share … And it’s me making that point of you can live with these urges, you can live with these hungers and still be a good person, and I balance it with some stories from the past and all these things that I kind of went through and, you know, that I came out on the other side and, hopefully, I’m a good person for it,” Taylor explains in an interview with Explore Music. The book has a tentative release date of March 1, 2011 via Da Capo Press.
Next, we have a new book from Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx called This Is Gonna Hurt. While his previous best seller The Heroin Diaries focused mainly about his drug addiction during the band’s Girls Girls Girls period, This Is Gonna Hurt is a part photo, part journal collection that reportedly spans his entire life, from his early years to his OD and rebirth, and everything in between and after. In other words, it sounds like an updated version of The Dirt without the rest of the band and with more pictures. Plus, it features a foreword from Sixx’s ex Kat Von D. The book’s is set to be released on March 22, 2011 via HarperCollins imprint William Morrow.
Finally, we have a new book from ex-White Zombie bassist Sean Yseult. Her new book I’m In The Band combines eleven years of tour diaries, flyers and photos to portray White Zombie’s rise to fame and what it was like being the sole female in the heavy metal community. The book supposedly features photo appearances from the likes of Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister, Iggy Pop, Joey Ramone, and Lux Interior. I’m In The Band is set to be released on December 7, 2010 via Soft Skull Press.
