Danish metallers Defecto are celebrating the release of their new album, Echoes of Isolation, out now via Frontiers Music Srl. Today (31st), the group teamed up with Metal Insider to share a track-by-track guide.
Echoes of Isolation – Concept:
This album explores the raw and harrowing journey of living with psychological disorders, delving into the inner battles, isolation, and fractured realities they create. Each song tells a story of struggle—depression’s crushing weight, anxiety’s suffocating grip, schizophrenia’s dual worlds, and bipolar disorder’s chaotic highs and lows. Through vivid lyrics and powerful emotions, the album captures the pain of feeling cast out from the world and the desperate fight to reclaim control over a mind at war with itself. It’s a haunting yet deeply human reflection on the fragility of the psyche.
Eternal Descent
Is about Insomnia. The psychological toll of sleepless nights. Exhaustion, racing thoughts, and a blurred line between dreams and reality.
Sacred Alignment
Is about OCD. It’s not about being tidy – it’s about being trapped. It’s a mind that won’t let go, rituals that demand obedience, and a fear so loud it feels like survival depends on perfection.
Eclipsed by the Void
Is about PTSD. Reliving trauma through flashbacks, nightmares, or triggers. Feeling stuck in the past and unable to escape its grip.
Heart on Fire
Is about depression. It isn’t just sadness – it’s emptiness that weighs a ton. It’s smiling while sinking, feeling nothing where joy once lived, and waking up every day with a war inside you just to keep breathing.
Quantum Abyss
Is about Schizophrenia. Delusion, hallucination, or the struggle to distinguish reality from imagination, with a disconnection from outer and internal chaos.
Through Cloak and Bones
Is about Paranoia. A constant sense of threat, betrayal, or being watched in a tense and unstable atmosphere
Shattered Reality
Is about Depersonalization disorder. Feeling like the world isn’t real or that you’re not real, with a disconnection from your own body or surroundings, feeling emotionally numb, like floating through life.
Echoes of Isolation
Is about childhood trauma. The echo of pain in safe places, the silence that follows a scream no one heard. It shapes how we trust, how we feel, how we survive — long after the wound has closed
