Although they didn’t really start to get popular until the late ’70s and early ’80s, Vans are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year. And if you live in the New York area like we do, you’re more than likely familiar with the House of Vans in Brooklyn. Located in Greenpoint, for the last few years, the House has been hosting free concerts for those in the the hardcore, hip-hop and metal and skateboarding communities throughout the Summer. There’s also curated art by visual artists, including a light installation, graffiti artists and a functioning boombox wall. However, the lineup has been released for this Summer, and there’s definitely some great shows for metal fans. Of note are:
June 23rd: Sleep, Battles
July 6th: Quicksand, Converge and an unannounced special guest.
