Chris Cornell has previously played at campaign fundraisers for President Barack Obama. Now the singer and Soundgarden will be performing at the president’s second inauguration.
According to SPIN and The Washington Post, Soundgarden will be among the musical acts performing at the official inaugural ball being held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in D.C. on January 21. Also performing at Obama’s second inaugural ball will be Katy Perry, fun., Stevie Wonder, Usher and many others. Cornell will also supposedly play a solo set at the Commander-in-Chief’s Ball earlier that same day.
We can only assume what the reformed grunge pioneers will actually play at the ball. However, we’re sure “Black Hole Sun” and a song off of King Animal will pop up on the setlist (while “Jesus Christ Pose” and “Big Dumb Sex” likely will not). It’s also a safe bet that there’s one particular person won’t be getting an invitation to the ball.
