Gary Holt has been in Exodus for almost the entire run of the band, which started in 1980. In fact, he’s been in the band longer than any other one member. So it makes sense that he’s not in any hurry to leave them. However, Slayer is arguably the biggest metal band there is, and since Jeff Hanneman has been healing up from getting necrotizing fasciitis, Holt has been doing a great job of filling in for Slayer. With no return date in sight, and Slayer set to release an album this year, Holt might make his first appearance on one of their albums. Either way, a member of the thrash elite filling in for the guitarist of one of the big four has been pretty impressive.
