Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s pandemic column during the ongoing uncertainty behind COVID-19. We ask artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy during these unprecedented times. We caught up with Triskelyon guitar/bassist Geoff Waye as he’s been spending this time working on new music.

What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?

Besides getting out into nature for walking, the main thing to do is music. The Triskelyon project is a direct outcome of the pandemic. We haven’t really been in quarantine here, just some sensible public health measures but it has resulted in seeing fewer people and having more time for music. With my other musical projects slowed down, to stay active and sane, I started writing some music in late 2021 for a solo project. The first 3 songs for the project are what you can hear on the debut EP.

Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?

I don’t listen to playlists or make my own playlists at all. I listen to albums, and I check out random things on YouTube to see if it’s something I want to buy on CD or vinyl. So for recent things from the past year that I bought which I feel are worth checking would include the newest albums from Helloween, Flotsam & Jetsam, Einherjer, Brainstorm, etc.

A lot of people have been spending this time cooking, including making their own bread. What food have you been prepping during this time?

In the winter, more soups and stews. Getting to work from home during the pandemic is awesome for putting something like that on in the daytime while you’re working.

In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?

Books: Lord of the Rings trilogy re-read TV: Star Trek Discovery and Picard, Star Wars Mandolorian and The Book of Boba Fett. I watch some other stuff but sci-fi is my fav.

Games: no time for that Movies: TV shows like those listed above are better than movies to me.

What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?

I get that some are feeling isolated, even I as a semi-hermit have felt cut off from people and impacted and it’s not exactly fun.  It SEEMS like the light is at the end of the tunnel finally – so live in hope, not fear, and we’ll get back to more concerts and doing those things we have missed soon enough. If you’re still feeling isolated, then get out for a walk, turn off the news where the media is focusing way too much on the annoying opinions of a minority of fringe cultists protesting fictitious bullshit. If you’re a musician, write that song, record it, even if it’s a solo project like Triskelyon, it really helps with the sanity. Some may find inspiration from it rather than isolation.
