Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week.

It should come as no surprise that there isn’t much happening in the way of metal record sales this week since 1) it’s nearly the end of the year, and 2) we didn’t have a band pull the metal equivalent of Beyoncé i.e. dropping an end of year album by surprise. Wow, imagine if a band like Necrophagist dropped an album next week. That’d be a way to royally screw up all of the “best-of” lists. Alas, the chances of that happening seem very slim, so we’ll have  to make do with what we have here.

Notable Debuts:

Evergreen Terrace, Dead Horses (Rise) 800 sold

The sixth album from the band inspired by The Simpsons (look it up if you don’t get it) makes its debut.

Honour Crest, Spilled Ink (Rise) 420 sold

This is the debut album from these Virginians.

Notable Sales:

Five Finger Death Punch, The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell Vol. 2 (Prospect Park) #47, 12,400 sold

Well you can’t say sales haven’t been good to Five Finger Death Punch this year. This has sold 127,000 in four weeks.

A Day To Remember, Common Courtesy (Self-Released) #66, 9,650

This drops by 25% in week 2 (or 3 technically? Whatever).

Avenged Sevenfold, Hail To The King (Warner Bros.) #76, 8,775 sold

This gets an 11% boost bringing the album just under 360,000 total.

Five Finger Death Punch, The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell Vol. 1 (Prospect Park) #121, 5,600 sold

The total sales of the two albums comes to over 443,000.

Crown The Empire, The Fallout (Rise) #147, 4,725 sold

Holy hell. This album came out over a year ago and just rocketed up in sales. I guess someone put something in the water over at Rise Records this week.

Skillet, Rise (Atlantic), #170, 3,375 sold

This received a boost of 32%, bringing that much closer to the 200,000 total mark.

Linkin Park, Recharged (Warner Bros.) #162, 4,175 sold

This is just under 70,000 sold, which isn’t great for a Linkin Park record, but isn’t bad for a remix record.

Pierce The Veil, Collide With The Sky (Fearless) #168, 3,450 sold

This album has been on fire lately with a 16% boost this week, bringing the total sales to just under 190,000.

Korn, The Paradigm Shift (Prospect Park) #168, 3,975 sold

At week 10, this will soon break the 100,000 mark.

Deafheaven, Sunbather (Deathwish) 740 sold

The selling streak continues with a 17% boost, bringing the total to over 17,500. For such a non-mainstream album, that’s pretty impressive.

Deicide, In The Minds of Evil (Century Media) 1,200 sold

A 48% drop this week.

Gemini Syndrome, Lux (Warner Bros.) 450 sold

Do you think vocalist Aaron Nordstrom is excited for The Hobbit?

Righteous Vendetta, The Fire Inside (EBM) 440 sold

So this basically sold the same among as last week.

Scar The Martyr, Scar The Martyr (Roadrunner) 390 sold

Looks like Scar The Martyr will stay busy now that Joey Jordison has left Slipknot.

Affiance, The Campaign (Ingrooves) 370 sold

A 17% drop for this week.

Russian Circles, Memorial (Sargent House) 320 sold

This dropped off last week, but a 32% boost has made it appear again.

Fates Warning, Darkness In a Different Light (Inside Out) 300 sold

At week 10, this gets a tiny 3% boost.

Gorguts, Colored Sands (Season of Mist) 290 sold

The end of year lists are still helping here with a 11% boost.

Black Flag, What the… (SST) 400 sold

This, on the other hand, has not received many end of year boosts.

Rhapsody of Fire, Dark Wings of Steel (AFM) 280 sold

This takes a hit with a 47% drop.
