Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week.
In two weeks, we’ll officially be in the 2020’s. I know you’re all asking the important question: where do metal music and album sales go from here? I don’t have an answer for either. Back in 2010, I was a kid just busy worshipping the likes of Maiden and Sabbath and could never imagine all the different kinds of music that I’d find my way to over the next 10 years. But I still worship Maiden and Sabbath, so that hasn’t changed. I also never imagined I would one day not only be writing a weekly column about album sales every week, but that some people would actually read it, even if all they want to know is “Why is (insert band name here) not listed?” or “How much did (insert album from a year and a half ago) sell?”. So hey, thanks for reading.
