You’ve got to hand it to Canadian quintet Kobra and the Lotus. The female-fronted band, which has opened for KISS and have released three albums so far, are true to their roots. The band’s forthcoming EP, Words of the Prophets, is an EP consisting of five covers from fellow Canadian bands. You can check out their video for the Alannah Myles song “Black Velvet” that was released yesterday, but they’ll also be covering songs by Triumph (“Lay It on the Line”), April Wine (“Sign of the Gypsy Queen”), Bachman Turner Overdrive (“Let it Ride”) and of course, Rush, whose “The Spirit of Radio” is where the EP gets it’s title.
