Both Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan and raging egomaniac Kanye West hail from Chicago, but that’s pretty much where their similarities end. While Yeezus is a big fan of pop music, taking to the stage more than once to defend Beyonce, Corgan had some choice words for both pop music and West, according to the Pulse of Radio.

While in Australia for the Soundwave Festival, Corgan was interviewed by a radio station, and when asked about pop music, he replied:

“To me [pop music) is headed towards a form of pornography. You have young women sexualizing themselves earlier and earlier in really inappropriate ways to gain attention because it’s really all about getting YouTube hits… Our business is shrinking because it’s becoming the lowest common demonimator.”

Continuing, he said that rock stars need to take a more aggressive stance against pop artists, whatever that means. “Everybody belongs on their side of the street for a good reason,” he said. Of course he was also asked about Kanye’s reaction to Beck winning album of the year:

“I think it’s inappropriate for any artist to take somebody else’s moment and make it their own… I’ve stood at that podium too and I’ll tell you what, if somebody got up on my stage, I would knock them out.”

Well, there you have it. That would be a fun fight to watch, given that Corgan makes it up to the stage to win a music award in the near future.
