gtoIt’s been a long time coming for Giraffe Tongue Orchestra. A collaboration between The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Benjamin Weinman, Mastodon’s Brent Hinds, and former The Mars Volta drummer Thomas Pridgen, among others, the band’s had a name since 2012. But it finally seems like things are moving forward now, given from a clip that producer Steve Evetts has posted on his Instagram account.

“What the heck is going on here?” the caption asks, with the hashtag @GTO. Along with Hinds, Weinman and Pridgen tagged in the short video, actress Juliette Lewis and studio bassist Pete Griffin are also tagged. The only music heard is from drums and bass, but Weinman is playing something on a Paul Reed Smith guitar. There’s no release date on this year, but given that the rhythm section has at least parts of one song down, it’s safe to say that progress is being made.
