For the last two years, the San Francisco Giants have had an evening with the most popular Bay Area band ever, Metallica (sorry, Deadheads!). We’re not saying the reason the Giants won the Worlds Series earlier this year was because of Metallica’s night earlier this year, but perhaps it helped. That may be one of the reasons that the band and the team have decided to join forces once again for the third year in a row. Fans of the band and the team can mark May 2, 2015 on their calendars and get ready to play ball. Or rock out. In previous years, the band has thrown out the first pitch and played the national anthem at AT&T Park. Who knows what they might have up their sleeves next year. Here’s what the band had to say:
A huge congratulations to our hometown San Francisco Giants, winners of the 2014 World Series! Just as the festivities and celebrations are starting to wind down it’s time to plan for next season and lucky for us, the team has invited us back for the third annual Metallica Night at AT&T Park. We’ll all be on hand Saturday, May 2, 2015 as the Giants take the field against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and as always, the night will kick off with the National Anthem and first pitch. Of course we’ll be hanging all evening with those crazy, loud, loyal orange and black fans cheering for the team and participating in some in between inning action.
Special event tickets for this game go on sale as part of Orange and Black Friday, November 28 at 8:00 AM PST. The special event Metallica ticket package includes a ticket to the game and a limited edition Metallica/Giants goodie that we’ll tell you about at a later date. A portion of the proceeds from every Metallica Night special event ticket will benefit a local charity that we will tell you about later.
On Wednesday November 26, Met Club members should log in to the site for details about how they may purchase tickets to the game early.
