Back in April we heard that Mikael Akerfeldt was no longer the vocalist for Bloodbath. Rumors swirled, and then the announcement came for a new album in November but still no word on who was doing vocals. Today we finally know: Nick Holmes of Paradise Lost.

Said bassist Jonas Renkse,

“Ever since I got into Lost Paradise back in 1990, Nick Holmes has been one of my favourite growling vocalists out there. He was always audible and articulate but still deep and definitely morbid. It is a great pleasure to work with him some 25 years later after I was introduced to his thunderous roar!”

As we mentioned back in April, the band already had a new singer, when Mikael Akerfeldt mentioned that, “they have a new singer, which I can’t say who it is.”

The band’s latest album, Grand Morbid Funeral, comes out Peaceville Records on November 17th, their first studio album since 2008s The Fathomless Mastery. Guitarist Anders Nystrom (Katatonia) said the album will be, “destructive, raw, heavy, organic and sludgy death metal.”
