Code Orange’s sophomore effort, I Am King, tops the Billboard Vinyl Album charts this week. To compare, Every Time I Die’s From Parts Unknown and Mastodon’s Once More ‘Round the Sun peaked at #3.
Drummer Jami Morgan explained the new album in a recent interview.
“I Am King is about embracing yourself to be better than you think you are, or other people see you as. And it’s about not taking any shit from anyone saying that you should be one way or another. It’s about seeing through and ridding yourself of other people around you who are impacting you negatively or holding you back from doing what you want to do.”
I Am King, their second album by the Pittsburgh, PA band on Deathwish, debuted at #96 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, with 3,150 albums sold. This is the band’s first album since shortening their name from Code Orange Kids, and second full length with Kurt Ballou producing.
