Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week.

Well, any press is good press is what they say. Some might say Upon A Burning Body’s “publicity stunt” from a month ago soured their debut, but most people probably don’t care. It still had a great debut though there’s not as much action in terms of debuts compared last week. Also, Godsmack is still reigning in the top 10 and…we have two Five Finger Death Punch albums on the charts. Again. Presumably until we see a third album popping up and  going from zero to gold.

Notable Debuts:

Upon A Burning Body, The World Is My Enemy Now (Sumerian) #39, 6,950 sold

The band’s fourth album is their highest debut yet.

Heartist, Feeding Fiction (Roadrunner) #148, 1,825 sold

The band’s debut studio album gets on the charts.

Unisonic, Light Of Dawn (Eagle Rock) 260 sold

This is the second album from the band featuring former members of Helloween.

Notable Sales:

Godsmack, 1000hp (Universal Republic) #8, 21,450 sold

A 62% drop has almost no effect on second week sales for this one.

Linkin Park, The Hunting Party (Warner Bros.) #14, 16,425 sold

A whopping 164% boost no doubt thanks to the band’s current tour.

Theory of a Deadman, Savages (Roadrunner) #26, 5,725 sold

This still sticks to the top 50 after a 42% drop.

Rise Against, The Black Market (Interscope) #58, 5,010 sold

Not much change in sales this week.

Seether, Isolate & Medicate (The Bicycle Music Company) #63, 4,675 sold

This sold nearly the same amount as last week.

Five Finger Death Punch, The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell Vol. 1 (Prospect Park) #87, 3,200 sold

So, not only is this back on the charts, but it’s higher up than Vol 2. Yay touring?

Judas Priest, Redeemer of Souls (Epic) #74, 3,125 sold

A drop of 21% this week.

Avenged Sevenfold, Hail To The King (Warner Bros.) #99, 2,750 sold

This has a higher position than last week, but sold less.

Five Finger Death Punch, The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell Vol. 2 (Prospect Park) #104, 2,625 sold

Because having one album sell forever on the charts just isn’t enough.

Kix, Rock Your Face Off (Loud & Proud) #122, 2,250 sold

Apparently, enough people had their face rocked off in the first week hence the 59% drop.

Wovenwar, Wovenwar (Metal Blade) #125, 2,175 sold

This has woven a 69% drop in week two.

The Pretty Reckless, Going To Hell (Razor & Tie) #128, 2,125 sold

And then there was that time when Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top apparently grabbed Taylor Momsen’s butt.

Suicide Silence, You Can’t Stop Me (Nuclear Blast) #143, 1,950 sold

The band will head out on tour with The Black Dahlia Murder this fall.

Crown the Empire, The Resistance: Rise of the Runaways (Rise) #146, 1,850 sold

Nothing rose this week with a 38% drop.

Bring Me The Horizon, Sempiternal (Epitaph) #151, 1,725 sold

Once again, not much action on the horizon this week.

Chevelle, La Gargola (Epic) #156, 1,675 sold

At week 20, this gets a small 3% boost.

Mastodon, Once More ‘Round The Sun (Reprise) #169, 1,575 sold

Just under 60,000 sold.

Nothing More, Nothing More (Eleven Seven) #187, 1,425 sold

This pops up again after being absent last week.

Various Artists, 2014 Vans Warped Tour Compilation (Side One Dummy) #190, 1,400 sold

A steep 62% this week.

Capture The Crown, Reign of Terror (Artery) #191, 1,375 sold

This captures a 63% drop in week two.

Eluveitie, Origins (Nuclear Blast) 860 sold

A 73% drop brings this down in week two.

Alestorm, Sunset on the Golden Age (Napalm) 690 sold

A 62% drop requires some beer to wash it down.

Fallujah, The Flesh Prevails (Unique Leader) 550 sold

In case you missed it, our own Chip McCabe gave his own spin on this album.

Belphegor, Conjuring the Dead (Nuclear Blast) 500 sold

This conjured a second week 63% drop

Paul Gilbert, Stone Pushing Uphill Man (Shrapnel) 360 sold

Here’s a debut we missed last week, which came in at 500.

Gemini Syndrome, Lux (Warner Bros.)  310 sold

A slight 14% drop.

Rival Sons, Great Western Valkyrie (Earache)  300 sold

At week 10, this gets a 3% boost.

Glass Cloud, Perfect War Forever (Equal Vision) 290 sold

The band finally sees a boost  of 27% from its co-headlining tour.

Deafheaven, Sunbather (Deathwish) 280 sold

This is also back (again).

Entombed A.D., Back To The Front (Century Media) 280 sold

This is far from the front with a second week 57% drop.

Nachtmystium, The World We Left Behind (Century Media) 250 sold

A 69% drop in week two.

Babymetal, Babymetal (VAP Japan) 250 sold

You’ll get your chance to see Babymetal in November.

American Sharks, American Sharks (The End) 240 sold

Hey, shark week is over. Didn’t you hear? They’ll be touring with GWAR this fall.

Fit For A King, Creation/Destruction (Tooth & Nail) 230 sold

Another slight Warped Tour boost of 10%.
