You’ve had a chance to listen to “The Negative One,” the first new Slipknot song in years. As you may have guessed, that’s not the first official single from the album. While it did a great job of showing that the band haven’t softened up in the six years since All Hope is Gone, it’s not exactly the radio hit that songs like “Psychosocial” or “Duality” was. That’ll likely be coming soon, and when it does, it’ll be called “The Devil In I.” The band’s website posted the artwork for the single today, a stark drawing of a hooded figure that’s only slightly less creepy than the video that accompanied “The Negative One.” There’s no word on when it will be commercially available, or who’s drumming with the band for that matter. We know that the next album will be out in October, and that’s about it. We’d expect this to be sent out to radio and available on iTunes as a single before too long, though.
