On May 20th, the latest Wolfenstein video game, Wolfenstein: The New Order video game will be released. We know we’re a metal site and not a video game one, but there’s a reason we’re writing about it. That’s because Meshuggah guitarist Fredrik Thordendal has contributed to the soundtrack. In an AMA on Reddit, the game’s creative director Jens Matthies dropped the news:
“…For the music in Wolf we worked with an amazing composer named Mick Gordon as his musical style is more appropriate for this game than Grappo’s. We also have some special music contributions by Fredrik Thordendal of Meshuggah (looove that band).”
adding:
“Yeah, Fredrik made some custom music for the game. All of the music in the game is amazing, I’m really psyched about it.”
This is the first we’d heard that anything close to metal would be in the game. Trailers for the game thus far have featured Jimi Hendrix and Martha and the Vandellas.
