Recently former Scar The Martyr frontman Henry Derek posted a statement on Facebook explaining that he had parted ways with his band due to a series of reasons primarily creative and personal, saying that it was “time to move on” after giving Scar The Martyr a year of his life.

About two hours later, the band quickly took to their Facebook page to address the statement by their former frontman, not hesitating to call Derek out on how exactly the split went down:

To address the recent Scar The Martyr news out there and make sure all the facts are straight, Scar The Martyr has parted ways with Henry, not the other way around. With all that’s been going on of late we have been forced to take a very careful look at how we are moving forward and with there being some creative and personal differences it made sense to move on without Henry.

We have been very focused on new Scar The Martyr material and we couldn’t be more excited with how the music is coming out. We are in the process of looking for a new singer and will have news on the search very soon.

We appreciate all the support from our fans and we can’t wait to share the next phase of STM with all of you. We wish Henry best of luck going forward.

Thanks,
Scar the Martyr

Both testimonies seem to share somewhat similar reasoning – citing creative differences and stating each party’s plans for the future. Derek revealed his plans for a new band and to “continue making music in many forms” while Scar The Martyr stated they are working on new material and are in the process of finding a new vocalist. The only real discrepancy is the disconnect with who exactly parted ways with who.

It is unclear why exactly the band so strongly emphasized the departure as their decision, but both Henry Derek and Scar The Martyr seem to be quickly bouncing back and continuing on in their respective careers.
