motleycrue2012Vince Neil is finally confirming the rumors that have been swirling regarding the final days of Motley Crue. With their recent tour and residency in Las Vegas, the band plans to say good-bye with a farewell tour, according to Billboard.

“I think we’ll start the tour around May — I’m just kind of guessing on that, but in the spring of ’14, and we’ll do one more time around the world and kinda call it quits,” he told the publication.

The Crue leader cites Mick Mars’ health issues as one of the underlying factors leading to the band’s decision to wrap things up. But while he told Billboard that he wants the band to go out with a bang, he also isn’t ruling out a reunion in 5 or 10 years. And there will likely be some new Crue music to accompany the tour, possibly in conjunction with the film version of The Dirt. Neil also took a shot at his perennially-retiring former tour mates in KISS, saying “it’s not gonna be like a Kiss farewell to the farewell to the farewell to the farewell tour. It won’t be like that. We’re not going to say farewell and then try to get people to come back again in a little while.”

But since we know the current disbandment is possibly devastating  news for many a Crue fan who have gotten their hopes up that the band would never fade away, we here at Metal Insider are offering a way to soften the blow with a chance to win an autographed Schecter bass signed by Nikki Sixx, along with a pair of his special edition BluBlocker sunglasses. The contest ends  11:59 on Friday, August 30th so be sure to enter soon.

Motley Crue will tear up Vegas in September and October. Go to the contest page to check out the dates.
