By now, you’ve probably heard at least three songs from Ghost B.C.’s Infestissumam. The mysterious Swedish band’s sophomore album will be released here next week (16), but you won’t have to wait until then to hear the rest of it, as it’s streaming at Pitchfork now. While not as immediate or heavy as Opus Eponymous, it’s definitely hooky as all hell; a mixture of ’60s pop (on songs like “Jigalo Har Megiddo”) and weird psychedelia (like “Ghuleh/Zombie Queen”). While the band’s image and Satanic lyrics is what’s going to get them the most attention, this album would stand on its own without it.

On a related note, while the band’s been forced to call themselves Ghost B.C. in the United States, don’t look for them to put the “B.C.” in their name if they can help it. In a recent interview with Italian blog Soundsblog, one of the nameless ghouls in the band stated that it’s only a legal suffix. “In our world, we’re just gonna be called Ghost and when we refer to our records, it’s gonna be the Scandinavian version, saying Ghost only, and we are never ever ever ever ever ever gonna call ourselves Ghost B.C. in any way. It’s like saying ‘I’m going out and buy a Ferrari STE’ — you don’t do that, you just say, ‘I’m gonna buy a Ferrari.’ The B.C. is silent, and as soon as we can, it’s gonna be taken away forever.”

Infestissumam will be released on Loma Vista/Republic on Tuesday, April 16.
