At last year’s Orion Music + More, Metallica bassist Rob Trujillo reunited with Suicidal Tendencies for a short set that also included songs from Infectious Grooves. Now fans will get to see a proper reunion, as the original lineup of Infectious Grooves will be performing at this summer’s edition of Orion.
In case you’re not all that familiar with Infectious Grooves, watch Trujillo giving a brief oral history in the video above. In short, though, the group was essentially a funk/hard rock project formed by Trujillo and Suicidal Tendencies frontman Mike Muir. Rounding up the lineup was Jane’s Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins, Suicidal Tendencies guitarist Dean Pleasants and guitarist Adam Siegel. While Perkins, Pleasants, Trujillo and Muir will be partaking in said reunion, Siegel supposedly is unavailable. That’s why they are bringing in former Faith No More guitarist Jim Martin to fill in (no word on whether Infectious Grooves will be playing on the same day as Peeping Tom, featuring Martin’s former bandmate).
Whether you even remember hearing Infectious Grooves’ two albums, this is a pretty cool addition to an already impressive festival lineup. At the very least, it’ll give you the chance to see Trujillo back onstage with Cyco Miko and playing with Jim Martin (who has been pretty inactive music-wise). Other additions to Orion 2013’s lineup include Rocket From The Crypt, Vista Chino, Dead Sara, Matt Clarke, and Calico.
