If there’s one person that knows the worlds of horror and metal, it’s Housecore Records founder and Pantera and Down vocalist Philip H. Anselmo. If there’s one other, it’s Metal Sucks contributor and Anselmo’s bio writer Corey Mitchell, who’s made a career of writing true crime stories.  Together, the two are combining forces to present the first-ever Housecore Horror Film Festival in Austin this October. Being held from October 25-27 in Austin TX at Emos, the festival will include twelve bands, including Down, Crowbar and Anselmo’s solo band Philip H. Anselmo & the Illegals. The film festival will include over 70 films playing on seven screens spanning the worlds of metal, horror, true crime, documentaries, and classic horror movies.

The Festival has already lined up some guest directors, including Jorg Buttgereit (Nekromantik, Nekromantik 2, Schramm) and Jim VanBebber (The Manson Family, Deadbeat at Dawn), with more joining up later. And with Anselmo having been a veteran of haunted houses via his yearly House of Shock in New Orleans, he’ll be serving as a creative designer of the “Haunted Corridor.”

The festival is currently seeking film submissions, and if you’re interested in picking up a three-day badge for the inaugural fest, you can do it here for $149, which will go up after March 20. You can read more about the festival here.
