Hatebreed was labeled a white-power band last week on CNN in a piece by the Anti-Defamation League following the revelation that the fuckwad behind the Sikh temple massacre was in a skinhead hardcore band. The band demanded an immediate retraction and apology, and while it didn’t take long to issue a retraction regarding the piece, written by the Anti-Defamation League’s Lonnie Nasatir, it took several days for the official apology to be issued. It reads as follows:

Gentlemen,

The Anti-Defamation League is deeply sorry for mistakenly including your band, Hatebreed, in an opinion piece we did for CNN about white supremacist hate bands. Hatebreed should not have been mentioned. As soon as the error was brought to our attention, we corrected the piece by removing the reference to Hatebreed. We sincerely regret that your band was referred to in our piece and fully recognize that Hatebreed is not a purveyor of white supremacist, racist ideology.

We also apologize to your loyal fans who were justifiably disturbed by seeing Hatebreed included in the piece.

Sincerely,

Lonnie Nasatir

At least the ADL apologized. But then, considering the band’s lawyer was copied on the piece, it seems like they might have been legally obligated to do so. Regardless, Hatebreed thanked them for correcting the story and issuing the letter, and until another misinformed idiot jumps to conclusions again, it’s a relatively happy ending to the story. And we’re pretty sure Jew Slaughter isn’t asking for the ADL to issue any retractions.
