Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week.
That’s it – we’ve reached the end of the internet. When these two screamo, rapist, dance/techno idiots can have 10,000 14 year-olds waste their allowance money on this terrible music, something’s wrong. The band look like the end result of a gang bang between the Insane Clown Posse and Vampires Everywhere, but their music isn’t anywhere near as good. If it sounds like we hate this band, it’s because we’re supposed to, but damn if they don’t make it easy. In terms of real metal, Whitechapel have a nice first week, which is great news.

If any of you have younger sisters, please talk them out of this immediately.
Whitechapel, Whitechapel (Metal Blade), #51, 8,500 sold
This is slightly less than the performance of their last album, 2010’s A New Era of Corruption, which debuted at #43, selling 10,600. It’s still a good week for a deathcore band.
Chelsea Grin, Evolve (Razor & Tie) #60, 7,300 sold
Basically a five song reminder that the band is on the Warped Tour all Summer, this EP has a nice first week.
The Ghost Inside, Get What You Give (Epitaph) 5,300 sold
The band’s third album, and first for Epitaph, is a nice start for these guys, who will be on the Warped Tour all Summer.
For All Those Sleeping, Outspoken (Fearless) #109, 4,000 sold
The Minnesota band has a good first week for their sophomore album. And they did it without covering Taylor Swift this time.
Lostprophets, Weapons (Fearless) 3,200 sold
The band’s first album in the States since 2006, this is an OK start for a band that most people probably weren’t aware still existed.
Dying Fetus, Reign Supreme (Relapse) #147, 3,000 sold
The band’s seventh album, and first in three years, is off to a pretty good start considering that it’s a Dying Fetus album.
Ihsahn, Eremita (Candlelight) 900 sold
The former Emporer guitarist’s second solo album has a nice first week. Wonder how many Devin Townsend fans comprised the people that picked it up the first week?
Mnemic, Mnemesis (Nuclear Blast) 800 sold
The band’s last album sold 600 in its first week. This is a nice increase, considering.
Dr. Acula, Nation (Victory) 770 sold
Which came first, the band, the Mitch Hedberg joke, or the Scrubs reference? The internet tells us the Mitch Hedberg joke, which is where the deathcore band take their name from.
The Overseer, We Search, We Dig (Solid State) 490 sold
This young Arkansas band are off to a pretty good start.
U.D.O., Celebrator – Rare Tracks (AFM) 350 sold
Who knew there was an audience for b-sides from a former Accept frontman? Apparently 350 of you.

Another week in the top 10 for America’s favorite Canadian export since ginger ale.
Shinedown, Amaryllis (Atlantic) #64, 6,500 sold
Next week, this album will be halfway to gold.
Slash, Apocalyptic Love (Dik Hayd) #73, 5,900 sold
This has sold just under 75,000 in five weeks. That’s not bad, but it’s not as popular as his first album was, either.
Five Finger Death Punch, American Capitalist (Prospect Park) #86, 4,800 sold
This is up about 18%, just in time for their tour to kick off.
Volbeat, Beyond Hell/Above Heaven (Universal) #131, 3,400 sold
The band take an impressive 18% jump in what’s most likely their biggest sales week of their career. After their Orion performance, that might increase next week.
Tenacious D, Rize of the Fenix (Columbia) #146, 3,100 sold
The D is currently on tour, which might help increase sales, but likely won’t.
Miss May I, At Heart (Rise) #154, 2,900 sold
A 76% second week drop isn’t all that uncommon, and 15,000 sold in two weeks is nothing to be ashamed of.
Halestorm, The Strange Case Of… (Atlantic) #170, 2,500 sold
This doesn’t seem to be selling as quickly as the band’s first album, but then, that album was a much slower build.
Marilyn Manson, Born Villain (Cooking Vinyl/ Downtown/Hell, Etc.) #194, 2,300 sold
It’s taken Manson 8 weeks to sell 75,ooo copies, which is less than his 2007 album, Eat Me, Drink Me, sold in its first week.
Kreator, Phantom Antichrist (Nuclear Blast) 900 sold
Kreator took a 42% hit this week, but it’s only sold almost 6,500 so far.
Otherwise, True Love Never Dies (Century Media) 650 sold

Six Feet Under, Undead (Metal Blade) 450 sold

A 31% decrease in sales must feel like agony for the band.
