Recently, the members of Korn sat down with Billboard to give a track-by-track analysis of Revolver Magazine’s favorite album of the year, The Path Of Totality. And while the band gives an explanation behind each song off of the dubstep album, it’s frontman Jonathan Davis’ explanation for the song “Illuminati” that’s causing a bit of buzz.

In his explanation for the track featuring Excision and Downlink, Davis said how “Illuminati” is about his feelings towards the current state of our government, saying:

“I feel like Obama’s an Illuminati puppet… it’s basically dragged this country down into the worst it’s ever been. ‘You’ve built this house of shame’ — the White House used to be, everybody looked up at the White House and America and everything, and now I think it’s like a house of shame…”

Pretty harsh criticism towards the individual Davis said he hoped would win the 2008 election in an interview with FaceCulture prior to Obama taking office. Then again, this isn’t to say that Davis is a total a full on hater of President Obama, but more so an inkling that his previous faith in the president might have eroded some.

What we find pretty funny about Davis’ comments, though, is that he’s even talking about politics in the first place. It’s not unusual to hear musicians (even in metal) voice their political concerns to anyone who’d listen. But Davis has previously claimed that the song “Politics,” off of 2005’s See You On The Other Side, is about how he doesn’t like to talk about politics (both regarding the government and in everyday life. Looks like he had a change of heart during The Path Of Totality’s writing sessions, proving that there’s always more than what meets the wub.

You can watch Billboard’s video of Jonathan Davis, along with bassist Fieldy and guitarist Munky, giving a track-by-track analysis of each song on The Path Of Totality after the jump (note, Davis’ explanation for the song “Illuminati” start around the 4:35 mark).
