It was cool to see That Metal Show talking with the normally reclusive singer Axl Rose. However, while watching the special, we couldn’t help but think how it also would’ve been interesting to hear more from Rose’s band mates (the new Gunners, if you will). Guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal made a brief cameo in the episode, while guitarist DJ Ashba was present for Axl’s interview (though barely made a peep), but the focus of the hour long special was understandably on the GN’R frontman.

Well as co-host Eddie Trunk promised, the VH1 Classic show did shoot a lot of extra interviews with that didn’t end up making it in the final cut (considering how long they had to wait to actually interview Axl, that doesn’t surprise us). And shortly after the special aired, That Metal Show posted interviews with Bumblefoot, Ashba, keyboardist Dizzy Reed, bassist Tommy Stinson, and Rose’s longtime stage manager Tom Mayhue online. They each talk about their experience working with Axl, their time in GN’R, and the process of Chinese Democracy, among other things (though Bumblefoot mainly talked about his beard and the theme song he wrote for That Metal Show). You can watch That Metal Show’s chat with Reed (the longest lasting member of GN’R behind Rose) above, while the rest of the online video interviews can be seen after the jump (eureka, DJ Ashba can speak!).
