One of the best things about a great video game can be the soundtrack. It’s been nine years since Grand Theft Auto: Vice City came out, but I can remember cruising around fictional Miami in a Ferrari blasting Slayer’s “Raining Blood” like it was yesterday, and the music in Brutal Legend made the game worth buying despite the fact that Jack Black voiced the main character. The reason we bring this up is that third installment of the Saints Row series came out yesterday, and it’s got some pretty solid music in it. Much like the series it rips off, Grand Theft Auto, the cars you can steal in Saints Row: The Third have radio stations.

The game’s radio station “106.66 The Blood” is, not surprisingly, all metal. Metal Blade sent out a press release trumpeting the six songs they have on the soundtrack from the likes of Between the Buried & Me, Amon Amarth, and The Black Dahlia Murder among others, but there’s plenty more music on the soundtrack. Driving around raising hell while listening to Opeth’s “The Lotus Eater” sounds like a damned good idea to us. And even better/more random, is that Adult Swim seems to have their own channel, with music from Dethklok, as well as the Aqua Teen Hunger Force theme song and a remix of “Sports” from Tim and Eric. The playlist of “The Blood” is featured after the jump.
