It’s been announced today that Saint Vitus has signed a new recording deal with Season Of Mist. The label will release the doom metal pioneer’s first studio album since disbanding in 1996, and first to feature singer Scott “Wino” Weinrich since 1990’s V, in early 2012.

Guitarist Dave Chandler had the following to say about recording a new album with Saint Vitus and finding a new label home:

“Making this album was really a blast. Being able to live in an environment where all we had to concentrate on was the new material, became very inspiring. And along with our new drummer, Henry Vasquez, and label, Season Of Mist, this record has given us a new opportunity to show everyone that we still have more to shove in your face.”

Saint Vitus had performed a new song called “Blessed Night” live during the Metalliance Tour this past Spring. Video of the doom legends performing the new track during the tour’s stop in Denver, CO can be seen after the jump. Looks like we may have unfairly left one particular band off our recent Top 5 list, and we can think of at least one Brooklyn bar that probably agrees.
